We often get questions asked here at PulmansHQ, such as, “It’s my first time to go away on a winter holiday skiing/snowboarding. What do I need?”
That very question,the BIG important question!
“WHAT DO I NEED?”
This is for total newbies to the world of skiing/snowboarding, and we have compelled a list of things you should look at taking away with you on your first ever skiing holiday.
Feel free to save this list so you can check them off as you go when packing/shopping, etc.
Ski Clothing:
Ski jacket – waterproof/breathability of no less than 10k.
Lip balm
Ski pants – waterproof/breathability of no less than 10k.
Ski gloves – mittens for those who get cold hands/fingers
Thermal base layer – for temperatures below -10c though it’s a preference. Merino wool base layers are amazing.
Suncream – you can burn in the sun.
Ski socks – Our eBay link. Merino wool Socks
Sunglasses
Fleece
Hat/beanie
Face warmer/ Neck gaiter – The wind can get very cold.
Swimwear – optional if there.
Backpack – optional. Can take some snacks and maybe a portable phone charger and a bottle of water.
Ski Gear:

*can be rented – booking these prior to arrival can be cheaper than at the resort.
Off Mountain Clothing:
Snow boots/Walking boots – There may be significant amounts of
snow/ice on pavements, etc. so suitable footwear for walking over snow.
Jeans/pants
Long socks Merino wool socks
Pyjamas
Sweatshirt/sweaters
Loungewear
Gloves
Hats/Beanie
Scarf
Toiletries:
Hair Shampoo and conditioner
Extra moisturizing lotion
Body wash
Lip balm
Toothbrush

Face wash
Passport – see https://www.gov.uk for latest information. Current information is that travellers must have 3 months
on their passport from the date of return. However, this can change at short notice, and it is your responsibility to make sure the passport is valid.
Travel insurance – must include winter sports cover – check your bank account. They sometimes provide this at no extra cost
Ski pass – for the resort you are heading to and the number of days you need. Pre-booking passes online can save you money.
